Will filing taxes stop min. payment on FAFSA loan?

I would be really grateful if anyone could help me out with this question/problem.

I took out a FAFSA loan a graduate student. There used to be no minimum monthly payments required, but now there are. I think maybe this is because I haven’t filed my taxes (I am a dual citizen living and working in Canada–and make under $30 000 USD). I haven’t filed because it is expensive when you are in Canada to do that and I don’t owe the IRS money since my none of my income is American.

Anyway, does anyone know: if I file will the minimum payment demands stop?

Thank you

If you were on the save program you will have been switched to another program where you will be paying more. I think a call to your processor is what you will need to do to find out (or Federal Student Aid). Of course the call will cost you more from Canada. You can try an email first to both and see what happens.

Hello
My suggestion is to review the fafsa website. There are so many changes and they emailed me to review the website. Signup for updates. And definitely Contact your servicer for further info. Hope this helps.
