Designer at The Debt Collective
Position Title: Designer
Position Type: Independent Contractor, no benefits provided
Project: Web Design for a number of Debt Collective web assets
Start Date: ASAP (Early June 2020)
Duration: ~12 weeks, possibly longer
Hours: 15-20 hrs/week, remote, flexible working hours
About Us:
Born out of Occupy Wall Street,the Debt Collective is an organization committed to a radical restructuring of the current economic system, promoting analysis and education about the coercive role of debt in capitalist society, and providing tools to assist people in resisting unjust debts.
Position Summary
In the first stage of this project the Web Designer would interface with management and key stakeholders to create mockups that will be used to both renovate existing Debt Collective web assets and develop new ones. The second stage of this project will requite the Web Designer to collaborate and closely work with our internal team of back-end and engineers and our front end developer.
Areas of Responsibility & Expectations
(1) Develop mockups / designs for a Refresh of various web assets.
Expectations:
Ability to turn stakeholder needs and information gleaned from meetings into deliverable mockups
Create mockups of innovative, eye-catching design concepts for testing and review
Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency
(2) Work closely with Front End and Back End developers to bring the designs to fruition.
Work alongside back-end developers and web designers to produce robust modules and templates
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Must Have:
Excellent communication and time management skills
Demonstrated ability in careful choosing of type, color, imagery, and layout for common deliverables
Able to taking direction and receptive in receiving critique
Experience in web development projects where your designs drove the entire project (i.e. were used by Front End and Back End Developers and eventually finalized as deliverables)
Experience with Mobile development and web applications
Experience working with remote teams
Create mockups of innovative, eye-catching design concepts for testing and review
Adapt existing designs to different sizes, layouts or variations for implementation
Effectively present concepts and collaborate with stakeholders to create a beautiful, user-friendly, informational and effective web presence for the organization
Experience with Figma or Sketch
Familiarity with CSS and HTML
Nice to have:
Experience working with Open Source projects
Experience with Asana
