Organizing to Win College for All in California's 24th District

This action is for everyone who lives in CA’s 24th district. We want to put pressure on members of Congress to cancel student debt and make college free.

(Not sure which district you live in? Look it up here.)

Salud Carbajal (D) has not taken a position on H.R. 3473, the College for All Act of 2019 (which would make all public colleges free) or H.R. 3448, the Student Debt Cancellation Act of 2019, which would cancel all student debt). Can we force him to co-sponsor or otherwise support these bills?

Here is information about the impact of student debt on the district. StudentDebt_CA24.pdf (1.1 MB)

If you take out a loan for going to school, you are aware that you have X terms to repay that debt.

Just because you finish obtaining said education and maybe you didn’t find the exact job or get the expected results with finding a new position to increase wages as you maybe anticipated doesn’t preclude you from repaying your debt!

Other tax payers ARE NOT going to repay your debt for you!

It’s not a free handout just because you now all of a sudden don’t want to repay your debt! If you take out the loan, you must repay the debt!

I understand their may be various hardships and hopefully you are smart enough to have disability insurance to help with income needs should you incur such a short term or long term disability.

Again, these insurances are available to anyone and YOU are responsible to plan accordingly.

Free enterprise does not mean free handout!
