Great article, and thank you for including the link to the story! There is a heartbreaking example of a senior citizen being denied having her student loan discharged in her bankruptcy, which underscores the randomness of the type of judge one receives in court. The judge in the story’s example seemed so unbalanced in his remarks to the plaintiff. Overall, the article was informative, and the news was hopeful. The comment section was most interesting to read. Over the years, reading comment sections on student loan debt was cruel and judgmental. There is a shift in tone toward more understanding of others, rising empathy and/or maybe it says something about the type of person who reads the nyt.
