Is SAP FICO Course Worth It in 2026? ECC vs SAP S/4HANA + Career Advice Needed

I’m looking to start a SAP FICO course and wanted some advice from those who’ve already gone down this path.

A bit about me: I have a background in finance/accounting and basic ERP exposure, but I’m new to SAP. My goal is to eventually work as an SAP FICO consultant.

I had a few questions:

  • Is it still worth doing an SAP FICO course in 2026?

  • Should I focus on SAP ECC or go directly for SAP S/4HANA (FICO module)?

  • What prerequisites (technical or functional) should I be strong in before starting?

  • Is it better to choose an institute, online live training, or self-paced platforms?

  • How important is certification vs. hands-on project experience?

  • Any recommendations on good training providers or learning paths?

Would really appreciate insights from consultants, freshers, or hiring managers.
