Idea for possible action/campaign

What are your thoughts on a campaign where we coordinate with churches? Or get messaging around debt into church environments? I know Laura has discussed this previously but it seems that this may be a particularly good time for that specific idea given that conservatives currently hold high office and we often face false moral arguments about why we are wrong to not pay. We could organize it around Deuteronomy 15: 1-2. This idea is at the front of my mind after coming across a video from a YouTube personality who calls themself a Christian stating that cancelling the debt was wrong and he went on tangents against Warren’s plan. It got me thinking about the conversations with Laura on this and I found that a lot of material on the subject already exists. This idea would also not be isolated to the for-profit collective, medical collective, etc. It applies to all debt, so it could also be a possible way to direct people to the tools we have already.

Hi @Ami_Schneider I think this is a good idea too. I tried with a few church and did not get anywhere. I think it would be helpful for members that already have a church group established to start there.

And I love that you share this scripture:

Deuteronomy 15:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV)
Debts Canceled Every Seven Years
15 “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a [a]release of debts. 2 And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall [b]release it; he shall not [c]require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release.
