Dividing Consolidated Loans Involving Divorced Partners

I consolidated college loans with my former spouse who is now a wealthy lawyer. I’m a low-income artist. Because I filled out the paperwork, my signature was first on the form. This resulted in the entire thing being under my name. (his loans were more than $100,000 and mine were for around $10,000. This kind of consolidation is now illegal, but they will not let us separate these. If I could, I’d be forgiven or qualify for low payments. My payments now are $165 a month. Does anyone know if there’s been any movement on this issue? Last I checked, the issue was going to be discussed in congress. Any news or ideas?
