I am joint tenants (both on the deed) with my 89 yr old mother in Maryland. A debt collector has sued her (credit card) and is threatening to put a lien on our house. She’s been under going treatment for cancer and it was either die of cancer or pay these people their 6k. I’ve spoken to several lawyers and can’t get a straight answer about this. When she dies does the lien come off the house or does it stay and I would have to pay it when I solid the house after she dies? Thank you.
The lien is still placed on the home since she is an owner and her estate would likely go into intestacy (probate). So sorry to hear about your mom! This breaks my heart @moore.margaretj
