Architecture Students Unite

I graduated as an older student with a Masters in Landscape Architecture. We were not told the real deal for student loan debt and most of us were 100K to 200K in debt. There were not the jobs promised. The so called masters thesis was a fabrication. I have filed for borrower’s defense. I do know that interest will accrue.

I am organizing specifically for Landscape but all architecture students are welcome. I have a Reddit page and a facebook page

Reddit it LandArch9 and facebook is Landscape Architecture Academy (I was going to help them improve there profession but they are rather stubborn)

If you know anyone who is tired of the 12 hour days and being held hostage by your employer for your license (so you can leave) or were not offered a job because you’re older please like and follow.

I’m just getting started. I have spoken to many unhappy students out there. Please join me. It takes a team to make this right.

You said a borrower’s defense took 10 years to resolve. Is that the case? That’s a long time! What do people do in the meantime?

When I filed the borrowers defense against my public university, the form said it could take up to 10 years to resolve. There was no explanation for it.

BUT, the interest always accrues on it. That’s the catch 22. It’s not easy to file it against a for profit university and I have been told it’s even more difficult for a public one.

At my age, I don’t care. The program grossly oversold itself and I can put it into forbearance for a lifetime if necessary. There is no way to pay this amount off ever. Like to 50/50 groups says - when were dead -it’s automatically cancelled.

BUT - one way to hold the university accountable is to organize a group of students. And, I wonder how much debt the Architecture students were taking on as well. It seems to me we all spent / wasted too much time in studio class.

My studios were an absolute waste…

I’ll email you! Thanks

I’m still wanting to connect with people to put pressure on the schools to just be honest. Is that too much to ask for?

It’s quiet on here sometimes - if you know any arch students, please forward this email. I would love to touch base with them
